Matariki Day

On Friday 26th June we celebrated Matariki. Why on 26th of June? Because if we do it this week it would be too busy and if we do it on the holidays we couldn't go to the hall. In the morning team five was getting ready. We practised singing a Matariki song. Then walk to the hall. 

When we got to the hall Mr Burt welcomed us and talked about Matariki and why it's important. Then the year seven and eight stood up and sang a Matariki song. The Choir was mostly singing, The choir is the picture in this piece of writing. The people in the choir are Nina, John, Kitone, Nevaeh and  Eternity. The People on the Guitar is another John and Sione, Sione is the one that got cut out of the picture. I could not find some of the people's links because they are not in my class.

Once the hall meeting was finished we went back to our classes and the teachers told us about our groups. I got in Room 3, I was doing crafts with the year 8’s, 7’s,6’s and the year 5’s.

Our teacher was Mrs IIaoa. We made 3D stars. We had to get 5 because it looks tidy. Once I finish making a 3D star. So we did some Origami after. It was fun. Then we went back to the hall and Mr Burt said a few things about Matariki and we sang again. After that I said ‘Bye’ To Ms Tupuke and ran back home. That was exciting. Did you celebrate Matariki? If you did, how did you celebrate Matariki?

Math Decimal Game Learning

Task Description: Today I played a decimal game. With Nina and Shania.We had to roll the dice and see who could get the biggest number. I think they were taking it to serious though, I thought it was just a game. But I did like that they were laughing like crazy. It was really funny. .It was fun, Nina won and I came second place. In 2017 I was minding my own business walking along the beach. Then I looked at the other side of pt england beach and saw a big black rock, I went over to see how it got here. I was running then I stepped on a sharp plastic bottle I said to myself ‘OW!,do people even recycle? When I got there I was shocked to see what was waiting for me. It was a big black turtle! It looked injured or sick. I wonder how long it's been here. 

So I ran as quickly as I could. I got to my dad, took his phone and dialed 0800 DOC HOT. I said ‘ Please help me, This sea turtle looks to be injured or sick! I am at pt england beach please get here as fast as you can! 5 minutes later they got here.I ask a guy do you know if he is injured or sick? The guy said ‘It looks to be sick, but we will take care of him\her.They took the sea turtle. I said goodbye to the turtle. 

Later I went to visit the turtle. When I got to the turtle hospital I asked if they knew if it was a boy or a girl. They said ‘Still unidentified’.I felt sorry for the turtle, I wish I could have gotten there faster.I wonder what the turtle thought she or he is probably like.

 What is this weird place? Later they said ‘ The turtle is fine, he or she is still recovering though.I said ‘ That's great’ Later I said to the turtle goodbye forever I will never see you again so bye! . 3 years later and I don’t know if he or she survived he\she looked pretty old.
