Getting them to safety quickly that's why he was in a hurry cause if he didn’t there might of been another tide coming.

Why didn’t they take all the stuff they needed when the house first flooded?

Because they did not have a lot of time to get everything.

Why did they try to put out food for the cat?
|
So if they went the cat could still have a little more food to live
